Overview

Coldbit Steel is a clean, no-frills stamped steel seed backup for people who want a well-made plate without extra gimmicks. You hand-stamp your recovery words into the steel using a letter punch set, producing a permanent, readable record that survives the fire, water and corrosion that destroy paper backups. The design leans minimalist — a solid plate, deep-struck characters, nothing to assemble or lose.

Its strengths are simplicity and legibility. Stamped characters are permanent and can't smudge or fade, and because your seed is spelled out in real letters there's no reference grid to decode. A single solid plate has no tiles or small parts to secure. The honest caveats are those of any stamping approach: you need a punch set (which may be sold separately), stamping evenly takes a little practice, and a slipped strike is permanent. Steel is excellent but not quite titanium-grade on heat resistance.

Buy it if you like the stamping workflow, want readable spelled-out words, and prefer a simple, quality plate over feature-heavy systems. If you want to avoid permanent mistakes entirely, a tile system is more forgiving; if you want maximum heat resistance, choose titanium.
