Bitaxe Ultra

Ältere Single-Chip-Bitaxe (~0,5 TH/s), abgelöst von Supra und Gamma. Nur für Sammler oder Schnäppchen.

Overview

The Bitaxe Ultra is an earlier-generation single-chip Bitaxe solo miner, built around an older Bitmain ASIC that produces roughly 0.5 TH/s. It predates the Supra and Gamma in the Bitaxe line and has been superseded by both, offering less hashrate and efficiency than the newer models. Like every Bitaxe, it's fully open-source in hardware and firmware, silent, and palm-sized — a home solo-mining lottery ticket and learning platform.

Given that newer Bitaxe models outperform it, the Ultra really only makes sense for two kinds of buyer: collectors who want that generation of board, or bargain-hunters who find one cheap and enjoy tinkering with open hardware. The experience is otherwise the same Bitaxe experience — point it at a solo pool, get a tiny real chance at a full block reward, and use the open-source AxeOS interface to learn how hashrate, difficulty, and pools actually work.

The economics are, as always with these devices, lottery-and-hobby rather than investment. Half a terahash against a network measured in hundreds of exahashes per second means the expected value is negligible — you buy it for education, for the fun of running open hardware, and for the long-shot thrill, not for returns. If you want the best current single-chip experience, a Bitaxe Gamma is the better and more efficient buy; the Ultra is worth considering only at a bargain price or for its collectibility.

Bitaxe Ultra: Frequently asked questions

Should I buy a Bitaxe Ultra today?

Only at a bargain price or for collectibility. The newer Gamma offers more hashrate and better efficiency for a similar cost and is the better current buy.

Will it earn money?

No. At ~0.5 TH/s it's a lottery ticket and learning tool with negligible expected value against today's network.

Is it open-source?

Yes. Like all Bitaxe devices, it's fully open-source in hardware and firmware.

Is it quiet?

Yes, near-silent and low-power, fine to run on a desk.
